The Workshop

Every AI fiction tool on the market generates before it calibrates. They produce competent prose with no voice, no continuity, and no soul, and they ask the author to chat their way to a novel — a process that drifts within a chapter and dies within three.

The Workshop inverts the order. Voice is locked first. World is built second. Plot and beats are scaffolded third. Generation is the last act, not the first, and it runs against a living story bible the author has already authored. The bible is the source of truth; the AI is a consumer of it.

At every stage, the AI pushes back. Not flattery, not auto-complete — questions. Which theme is doing the most work? Whose function in the cast overlaps? What would this character refuse, even if refusing breaks the story? The author leaves each stage with a harder, stranger, more specific answer than they walked in with.

The Nine Stages

Each stage produces durable artifacts the next stage consumes.

Principles

• No skipping. Generation is locked until voice is calibrated and the bible is built.
• The bible is the product. The generator is a consumer. Facts retrieved as constraints in the system anchor — never injected as content into prose.
• Voice is unique. Calibrated against the author's own corpus per novel or per series. Twenty-five tagged pages are enough, given as a guided exercise — not a folder upload.
• AI as editor, not author. The author writes the spec; the AI carries the mechanics. Every chapter is finalized by the author. No book leaves the House without their hands on every paragraph.
• Everything is reversible. Every chapter is a versioned artifact. Rolling back is one click.
