The Last of Ryn DvarekBook I

A Journey Into Dreams

Published · 2024

Ryn Dvarek is the last of an old line, raised in the high country by an aunt who would not tell him why his name was kept quiet in the villages below. When the dreams begin — first as weather, then as visitations — he leaves the only road he knows and walks south, toward a city he has only ever seen behind closed eyes.

What follows is a slow journey through a country of shifting borders, where the dead are courteous and the living keep secrets older than the maps. Ryn meets a cartographer who has never been wrong, a weaver whose patterns predict the seasons, and a soldier who claims to have already met him once before, in a dream that has not yet happened.

A Journey Into Dreams is the first volume of a saga about inheritance, memory, and the long shapes a name can throw across centuries. It is a quiet book; the storm comes later.

From Chapter One

The first dream came in the colour of weather. He woke with the taste of cold iron in his mouth and the certainty that someone, somewhere south of the river he had never crossed, was waiting for a knock he would not give. His aunt had left a cup of water by the bed, as she always did. He drank it. It was warmer than the room.

Content Notes

Grief; ancestral trauma rendered as landscape.
